To celebrate the 235th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, the Marines’ Memorial Association hosted the Annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball. The 2010 Marine Corps Birthday Ball featured guest of honor General Peter Pace, former Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, along with musical performers and a cake cutting ceremony.

San Francisco Fleet Week

October 7-12, 2010

As hundreds of thousands arrived to San Francisco Fleet Week 2010, the largest such gathering in more than twenty years in The City, Marines’ Memorial Club honored the dedication to duty and sacrifices of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. Disaster preparedness training was conducted, along with fun events like softball tournaments and free concerts.

Celebrating the 234th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps, the 2009 Marine Corps Birthday Ball features remarks from guest of honor General James N. Mattis, United States Marine Corps Commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktails and hors d’oeuvres reception then dinner and dancing.

Meet the Author: General Tony Zinni

August 18, 2009

Marines’ Memorial Club’s Meet the Author presented General Tony Zinni, the author of Leading the Charge: Leadership Lessons From the Battlefield to the Boardroom. Currently Chairman of the Board for BAE Systems’ American Company, General Zinni held numerous command and staff assignments throughout his service in the Marines Corps His awards include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Bronze Star with Combat “V” and gold star, and the Purple Heart.

George P. Shultz Lecture Series: Admiral Michael Mullen

Established shortly after the events of 9/11, the George P. Shultz Lecture Series brings prominent military and civilian leaders to the Marines’ Memorial Theatre to speak on national security issues. Admiral Mullen was sworn in as the 17th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and serves as the principal military advisor to the President, the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council.
