From the editor... We hope you were fortunate (and quick) enough to get a ticket to the sold-out presentation by Greg Mortenson on April 22. His talk on building schools and transforming the lives of poor and isolated Pakistani and Afghani children and their communities was truly inspiring. We have more outstanding events coming up this month, and through the summer. Make your reservations soon so you don't miss out!
Find out how to make the most your membership: go to www.MarineClub.com or follow the more specific links below in the Click for More Club Info section.

Gail Chatfield |
Monday 18 May, 6:00 pm at the Marines' Memorial Club
Meet the Author Program
"By Dammit, We're Marines"
Speaker: Gail Chatfield
Step back in time as author Gail Chatfield gathers us around the campfire with a collection of remembrances from 52 heroes of the World War II Pacific campaigns.
Gail Chatfield's father was a Marine on Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima; her cousin was a Marine in Vietnam. Her father never talked about the war, while her cousin wrote her long, detailed letters. The two men fought different wars but shared the same Marine esprit de corps. Curious about what her father would have experienced, Gail began attending Iwo Jima Veterans' annual reunions at Camp Pendleton. Listening to the Veterans' stories inspired her to preserve their personal narratives.
This event is co-sponsored with the World Affairs Council of Northern California.
