Looks beautiful from the outside. But don’t let that fool you. Walking in the fragrance tells you it is old (almost smells like a badly managed nursing home). The property is furnished with well worn furniture and carpeting. Our room (a semi-suite) on the 5th floor was hot, terribly uncomfortable with outside noises the whole night, and to top it off, the elevators were out of order. We do not recommend!

Ideally located for a visit to the U. Pittsburgh/Carnegie-Mellon/Carnegie Museum area of Pittsburgh, you can have an enjoyable stay here, as I did. The building is an architectural landmark, the service staff people were friendly and gracious, and there is a lot to see within walking distance. The building includes a swimming pool, basketball court, fitness facilities, and a bowling alley. The queen suite I used was comfortable and had a sitting room; it was modest and not fancy; the temperature could be controlled. I did not find it smelly or noisy. The dining room on the first floor and the grill on the bottom floor were excellent. The place seems underutilized. If you were mainly going to be downtown or in the convention area (about 4.7 miles away), it would not be as convenient as someplace there although still only a short cab or bus ride away. I spent four nights and members of my family spent two nights and liked PAA, The dining room and grill was closed on Sunday and Monday; there are a few nearby restaurants. If you are interested in exploring the area, you can get a useful map at the U. Pitt Alumni Center across the street.
